Applets for Salesforce are developed for SalesPath customers only and must be installed and configured by SalesPath consultants in your Salesforce Enterprise Edition organization.
Primary Contact
It can be challenging to create email campaigns for a customer based on information in related objects. For example, you might track the products that customers have acquired from you in the Asset object. But unless you also track a Contact for each Asset record (which easily can change over time), running an upgrade or cross-sell campaign to promote a new product can be nearly impossible. Who do you send an email to? You cannot create a Salesforce report that includes both Assets and Contacts for an Account.
When you convert a Lead to a Contact and Account, this applet makes that initial Contact the Primary Contact for the Account with a Contact Lookup field on the Account Page. The Contact's Email address also is added to an Account Primary Contact Email field, which can be used in a Workflow Rule that sends an email message to the Contact when the rule is triggered on the Account. For example, you can use this email address to send an email message automatically to the Primary Contact 60 days before a custom Renewal Date located on the Account page.
Should you check the Primary Contact checkbox on a different Contact linked to the Account, an Apex trigger automatically unchecks this checkbox on the previous Primary Contact and changes the Primary Contact Email address as well. Should the Email address on the Primary Contact be changed, an Apex Trigger automatically changes the Primary Contact Email address on the Account record.
